Carpenter in Bendigo

Finish carpentry, custom renovations and heritage work for home owners and property managers across Bendigo.

Finished home study with built-in timber shelving, an arched door and a timber floor

Andrew's Timeless Carpentry is a carpenter and registered builder working across Bendigo. We do finish carpentry, custom renovations, heritage work, decks, pergolas, carports and sheds, and steel and timber framing.

Bendigo grew up in the gold rush, so its homes run from old weatherboard cottages with verandahs to brand new estates. A house from the 1880s and a house from last year need a different hand, and our experience covers both ends, from modern work to heritage homes.

If your job needs a building permit, the City of Greater Bendigo does not issue them itself, so you engage a private building surveyor. If your home has a Heritage Overlay, the City's heritage advisor is the person to talk to first.

Questions people ask

When do you need a registered builder?

In Victoria, a builder or tradesperson doing work worth more than $10,000 must be registered with the Building and Plumbing Commission, and the job needs a written major domestic building contract.

Restumping, reblocking and demolition need a registered person whatever the price. Work that is only one trade, such as painting, tiling, plastering, plumbing or electrical work, is treated differently.

Do I need a planning permit to renovate my heritage home in Bendigo?

Usually yes for outside work, such as external alterations, new works, and painting a surface that has never been painted. Repairs and maintenance also need a permit if they change how the place looks or are not done to the same details, specifications and materials.

Many minor works are exempt under the Greater Bendigo Heritage Permit Exemptions Incorporated Plan, so talk to the City's heritage advisor before you start, through the City on 1300 002 642.
