Decks and decking in Bendigo

Decks and outdoor entertainment areas, framed properly and built to suit your home.

We build decks and outdoor entertainment areas around Bendigo and central Victoria, from the frame up.

On one recent outdoor entertainment area we used designer pine for the visible frame sections and housing joints at the roof frame's timber junctions for added durability. The roof was sheeted with Suntuf polycarbonate for gentle shade, and a stainless steel wire balustrade finished the edge.

Housing joints at the roof frame's timber junctions add durability. The roof is sheeted with Suntuf polycarbonate for gentle shade, with a stainless steel wire balustrade.

The clients chose to paint it and install the Ekodeck themselves, with fantastic results. We built the frame and roof.

Questions people ask

Do I need a building permit for a deck?

Plan on yes. Victoria's list of building work that does not need a permit has entries for small pergolas and small freestanding sheds, but none for decks.

In Bendigo the permit comes from a private building surveyor, not the council, and on a Heritage Overlay a deck that can be seen from the street or a park can need a planning permit as well.

How much does a deck cost?

It depends mostly on the size, the boards you choose, how high the deck sits off the ground, and any stairs, balustrades or roof. A sloping block and permit costs add to it. The only firm number is a written quote for your deck.

How long does a wood deck last?

It depends on the timber, how close the deck sits to the ground, and how often it is oiled. The frame and footings matter as much as the boards.
